  • Call to Order – President Mike Nugent called the meeting to order at 11:25 a.m.

  • Calling of the Roll of Officers: Jodine Adams, Freeman Abbott, Mike Nugent, Dabney Lewis, Tom Maynard, Chris Hanson, Barbara Skelton, Kathy Joiner, Bruce Smith, Geoff Smith, Joan Kiszely.

      Absent: Paul Demers, Kathy Joiner
     
      It was determined there was a quorum.

  • Review and acceptance of the minutes of the December 16, 2011 meeting: Jon Reed made a motion to accept the December 16, 2010 minutes as written, seconded by Bill Longley. All approved.
  • Communications and Bills: Mike Nugent reported on the following legislative activities:
    • Six legislative bills right now. Some have been drafted and some have not been drafted
    • LD 43 – Stopped on January 25th when referred to committee
    • Reported on getting rid of the State Planning Office – new bill
    • Encouraged members to email legislators
    • Brief discussion on the MUBEC bill. 
    • Richard Lambert gave input on the Energy Code and Building Code bills.


  • Report of Officers and Treasurer’s Report: Barbara Skelton, Treasurer submitted a January 18 through March 16, 2011 Treasurer’s Report. She noted that the total assetts are $24,686.37. Freeman Abbott made a motion to accept the Treasurer’s Report, seconded by Tom Maynard . The membership approved the report as submitted.                            
  • Report of Committees:
    • Education Committee: Mike Nugent reported on the following:
      • Spring Code Conference is May 2 & 3 at the Ramada Inn
      • Reviewed the Agenda – Day 1 & Day 2
      • Attendee Packet will be going out next week
      • March 27 to 30 – Eastern States Building Officials Federation School
      • NEBOEA/ESBOF: 

    • Legislative Committee:
      • Upcoming Legislation Summary: Mike Nugent reported on the following:
        • Legislation to change Shoreland Rules
        • Plumbing Codes

  • New Business:
    • New Members: Motion made Jon Reed, seconded by Bill Longley, all approved the following new members:

  • Website:  Mike Nugent reported he needs to do a better job in working with Jeri Holt. 

  • Election of Directors:
    • Two Board of Director Vacancies:  Mike Nugent noted we have two vacancies on the board. We did have three associate members who volunteered, but the by-laws would not allow this.  He asked anyone interested to please let him know. 

  • The Good and Welfare of the Association:

    • Richard Lambert reported that you don’t have to be on the Board of Directors to help out. If anyone that can assist the board, it would be appreciated. 
    • Jodine Adams and Mike Nugent reported they are attending an Affiliate Group meeting on April 8 at MMA.
    • Mark Stambach reported that Code Enforcement Officers do make a difference.  He noted that he saw the video on the Rhode Island Fire, and was on the scene at the recent Lisbon Falls fire. 
    • Dick Dolby reported on the Sprinkler System, and exemptions that were proposed under MUBEC.
       
  • Adjournment: Bruce Smith made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 12:05 p.m., seconded by Richard Lambert, all approved to adjourn at 12:05 p.m.
